Bharatanatyam and Carnatic vocal music, taught in the Guru–Shishya Parampara — under Dr. Radhika Kalluraya.
Radhika's Academy of Performing Arts trains students of all ages in Bharatanatyam and Carnatic vocal music, in the traditional Guru–Shishya Parampara — where technique, values, and artistry are passed down through close, sustained practice with the Guru.
Under the direction of Dr. Radhika Kalluraya, the academy takes students from their very first adavu through to a full Arangetram, the solo debut recital that marks a dancer's coming of age. Every student's path is shaped individually — at their own pace, toward their own milestone.
Founder & Guru, Bharatanatyam and Carnatic Music
Dr. Radhika Kalluraya was born and raised in a village in the Sullia Taluk of Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka, into a family steeped in music and dance. Her mother, an accomplished vocalist, was her first Guru in Carnatic music; her early talent was then shaped formally by Sri Balakrishna Manjeshwara of Natyanilayam, Kerala.
She completed her Junior dance examinations in 1994 and Senior examinations in 2000, making her Arangetram debut in Puttur in 1998. She went on to train further under the internationally acclaimed Dr. Sanjay Shantharam, and deepened her musical grounding under Vidwan Sri Rama Aggithaya and violin guru Vidwan Harinarayana Sharalaya — winning an 'A' Grade Award at a Kerala State Level Violin Competition along the way.
In March 2022, she was conferred an honorary Doctorate in Performing Arts (Bharatanatyam) by the Universal Development Council and Indian Empire University. Beyond Bharatanatyam, she is trained in Kuchipudi, Mohiniyattam, Folk dance, Classical singing, and Nattuvangam, and leads a performance ensemble presenting traditional and thematic productions.
Over three decades, she has given more than 1,000 stage performances across India — including at the Raghavendra Aradhana in Mantralaya, the Tanjore Natyanjali Festival, and Chidambaram Temple — and internationally in Dubai, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Singapore. She is a 'B' Grade artist with Doordarshan Kendra, Bangalore, and holds the title "Abhinaya Saraswati", jointly conferred by the Cambodia Government and Tanjavur Heritage Arts.
